The George inn, run by Sharon and Mitch, is a traditional English family pub, offering camping within easy reach of Canterbury and the ports to the continent. The restaurant is 14th century and extended in 18th,19th and 20th centuries. It was the set for Channel 4's drama Southcliffe who filmed the pubs internal scenes here in 2012 There is a large and well equipped playground, a field for ball games and a petting farm, with Bill and Ben, the donkeys featured in CBBees My Pet and Me, goats, fowl, 2 aviaries and Clyde and Sophie our friendly dogs. We welcome dogs provided owners let us know and keep them on a lead. There are also craft days for children at Easter and Art classes for adults in the summer for beginners or advanced students,we also have many indoor board games for the bad weather. The marquee is available for weddings, parties and events and we can supply food and a DJ. Outside events include Bikers rallies, Classic car shows,Easter egg hunts, music festivals and a medieval Fayre. In fine weather there is a 2 acre pub garden, a field with picnic tables and a riverside garden of peace away from the pub bustle, where kingfishers may be seen. Evening events include bingo Tuesdays,Bat & Trap Wednesdays and darts Thursdays, there is a pool room and triliads table. Every Saturday our own DJ and singer Mitch entertains with karaoke, with the opportunity for people to drees up as rock stars, probably one of the The Best Karaoke hosts in Kent. There are Sunday lunch Jazz sessions and Friday night rock bands, with music from every decade since 1950's including the original Chicory Tip, who had a hit with Son of my Father. a Rock n Roll Jive night will be held in May with Apache one of the uks best rock n roll Tribute bands who have played with Hank Marvin of the Shadows Check our website for dates. We have a fine range of ales(CAMRA CERTIFIED) and spirits and good pub food cooked by our chef Darren, also take away Pizzas, beer battered fish and chips along with burgers. Our summer BBQ's, including shish kebab,hot dogs and huge burgers are very popular and reasonably priced.
