Ask locals how the Frozen Mop got its unusual name and no two people will give you the same answer. Some tell you the story of a lady who used to let her lover know the coast was clear by leaving a mop outside at night. Others claim a local rugby team used to jog past the same frozen mop week after week in the winter, and soon started referring to their favourite pub as The Frozen Mop. Either way, it's a beautiful old Cheshire pub set in a timeless village that dates back to the Doomsday Book. A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.
