Welcome to the Change of Horses. This is a proper pub that has been at the heart of the local village community here for over 250 years. It is situated in the centre of the village which lies on the old London to Hastings main road and the name originates from that history - as one of the places where the stagecoaches changed their horses on their route between London and the south coast. The pub was originally known as the New Inn – which suggests that hospitality was present on the site even earlier than that. Our chef and his team offer freshly prepared dishes for you every day, all day, made from quality fresh ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible. We also have a function room for your celebrations as well as more formal gatherings, and we can provide food for you and your guests should you so desire – just call to discuss your needs and wishes. Our beautiful, award winning garden with its waterfall is a perfect place to relax with friends and family when the sun appears – there is even a purpose built adventure play area to challenge the children. friendly dogs are welcome, water bowls and dog treats are provided. We have BT Sport for the rugby and football; host many local societies, clubs, teams and interest groups here and hold regular musical and other events, so there is usually something interesting going on! We took over here very recently; some please come in and meet us and the team; enjoy some good company in a great atmosphere, try our new menus and judge for yourself.
