About

A family run pub in the small town of South Brent. We serve good quality food and affordable prices, and quality real ales from the hand pump!

The Oak is an award winning local community inn specialising in good quality real ales and outstanding food. There is a separate dining room, five luxury bedrooms, covered courtyard area and a first floor function room in addition to the main bar. Located at the heart of the small, peaceful Dartmoor village of South Brent which is between Buckfastleigh and Ivybridge, The Oak offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. One of the strengths of The Oak is the food and Chef Proprietor Andrew has developed its justifiable reputation over the last 10 years with his vision of offering "restaurant food at pub prices". His team of talented young chefs prepare all meals on the premises using only the freshest ingredients sourced locally wherever possible. There is an ever changing selection of guest ales which compliment the regular real ales sourced from local breweries and here are usually at least two beer festivals each year. We have been in the CAMRA good beer guide for the last seven years running and were awarded the South Devon CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2007 and again in 2009. We are also in the good pub guide and the Michelin eating out in pubs guide.

Transport Tips

Directions From the A38 Devon expressway which links Exeter and Plymouth leave at the exit for South Brent. When you get to the roundabout in the village (by the police station) follow the directions to the village centre - left if you have come from Plymouth direction or right if you have come from Exeter direction. At the end of the road turn right and then immediately right again into Station Road. We are located on the left hand side about 100 yards up the road. You can pull up outside the inn to unload your luggage. We do not have our own car park but ample parking is in the main village car park which is just a few yards further up Station Road on the left hand side, just before the railway bridge. It is a free car park and well lit
