About

A traditional pub with a great restaurant. Where you can savour real ales and good food in a relaxed environment.

A traditional pub with a great restaurant. Whether you’re just popping in for a drink, or dining from our extensive freshly-prepared menu, a warm welcome awaits everyone. The Hawkins Arms is an historic coaching inn and one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall situated on the old highway from London to Land’s End. Originally, the pub was called ‘The Half Moon’ but in the 19th century was renamed ‘Hawkins Arms’ to honour west country Elizabethan seafarer, Sir Richard Hawkins, nephew of Sir Francis Drake and a commander in Drake’s fleet fighting against the Spanish Armada. Owners Adam and Alex are justifiably proud of their homely, family-friendly ‘Free House’ pub, where you can savour real ales and good food in a relaxed environment – which during the winter months includes a real fire burning away.
